ICFA cancels 2020 Casual Market Chicago

The board of directors of the International Casual Furnishings Assn. (ICFA) has cancelled Casual Market Chicago, the group’s annual trade show, originally scheduled for Sept. 22-25.

COVID-19 safety concerns combined with issues with state and local restrictions on gatherings pushed the board to make its decision to cancel the traditional trade show. Currently, a number of permanent showrooms at The Mart are still open daily and/or by appointment, giving interested buyers some shopping options.

In a release, the ICFA and The Mart said that they are “committed to offering a safe opportunity for exhibitors, retailers and designers to conduct business” and that they “intend to regularly monitor the situation.”

Moving forward, the ICFA said although the ICFA Awards Gala is postponed until Sept. 22, 2021, it will be selecting all honorees for its various annual awards for 2020, including the Apollo Awards for retail excellence, Manufacturer Leadership Award, Sales Representative of the Year, Design Excellence for exceptional product design and the inaugural Unsung Hero Award that recognizes an outstanding manufacturer’s customer service representative.
